Not to say twitter speaks for Ruby on Rails, but twitter was horribly unstable throughout the conference. There were a number of times I couldn’t log in and others when messages just never got posted. I think twitter is a great idea, but it couldn’t handle this load gracefully.
Twitter is perpetually unstable, but there’s really no substitute at the moment. I doubt JavaOne worsened the stability; even if 10% of attendees used it, you’re only talking about 1500 people.
