Reading through the comments on Cedric’s post, I came across this beautiful gem by Hani:

“it’s probably no coincedence that many/most agilists (at least,that I know of, they don’t tend to be a closeted species) are consultant types; an environment where maintanability is not an issue, and the fact that it takes a long time to get acquainted is a good thing.”

As a consultant, I can tell you this: if I write unmaintainable code, I don’t get invited back next quarter. If I don’t contribute right away, I don’t get invited back next week. Generalizations like this are just silly. Maybe there are companies that just pay out consulting fees without bothering to examine the results, but if they’re out there, could somebody please hook me up? We’re looking for a cushy gig.

    I agree 100%. Most of the work I've done in my brief career as a consultant has been refactoring horribly unmaintainable client code. We've been able to place a lot more people in those clients after I've left because they've been able to free up maintenance cycles to do some real development. I definitely hear what Hani's saying... it took me a month to get onboarded onto my current project. But it sounds like he's going on a stereotype. The environment he describes is not desirable or "good" for anyone looking to do a good job. I was much more upset than the client was with that wasted month of productivity -- most veterans are numb to their onboarding process by now.

    War gerade mal wieder einfach so im Internet beim surfen bin auf eine ganz eigenartige Sache gestossen die gut zu diesem Forum passt.

    Auf irgendeiner Seite finde ich wie man in einem onlinecasino beim online roulette ganz sicher gewinnen kann. ich bin da natuerlich schon skeptisch nachdem ich auch andere kasino spiele kenne und wie jedes kind weiss dass das haus immer gewinnt.
